Tube Art

"Mark Wallinger's Labyrinth, commissioned by Art on the Underground, is made up of 270 individual pieces – one for each station on the Tube network. […] Inspired by the instantly recognisable signs used on the Underground, Mark Wallinger chose an ancient symbol as the theme. The artworks represent the journeys taken by millions of passengers across London each day." [Metro]

Chinese New Year

February 10 2013 marks the Chinese New Year and a day of celebrations to herald the beginning of the Year of the Snake. In London was a big parade; on Trafalgar Square was lots of entertainment with music, speeches, acrobatics and much more.

Unfortunately it was very cold and rained nonstop the whole day, so we did not stay long. Elke and me then went to Royal Academy of Arts to see an exhibition with romantic paintings by Constable, Gainsborough and Turner. It was nice but not very impressive.

Unit 5 3/3

After finishing our essays we built groups for making publications. Alex, Joana, Mike and me had similar issues in our writings, so together we made a booklet with extracts from our essays. As we tried to pay attention to a sustainable production, we printed with a Riso on recycled paper. The three guys from work-form gave us feedback during the design phase.

After collecting packaging with eco labels for some weeks, I made this collage. A detail of it is also shown in the booklet.
Together with all the other publications we had a nice exhibition!

Driving on the Left

Left-hand traffic exists in 62 countries. Most of them are former British colonies like Australia, India or Jamaica. In London there is a street which prescribes right-hand driving, it is the only street in the United Kingdom. The so-called Savoy Court wants to prevent traffic jam in front of the Savoy Hotel with this special rule.

Cooking (/Eating) Group: Colombian and Polish

While spending a day with three other foreigners, I had the pleasure to have Colombian breakfast and Polish dinner. I love the possibilty to find food from all over the world easily in London.

Pandebono, Buñuelo, Pan de yuca, Empanadas (meat pastry), Calentado (rice and beans) and Embuelto (corn dough covered with a corn leave, not on the picture).
