Driving on the Left

Left-hand traffic exists in 62 countries. Most of them are former British colonies like Australia, India or Jamaica. In London there is a street which prescribes right-hand driving, it is the only street in the United Kingdom. The so-called Savoy Court wants to prevent traffic jam in front of the Savoy Hotel with this special rule.

Cooking (/Eating) Group: Colombian and Polish

While spending a day with three other foreigners, I had the pleasure to have Colombian breakfast and Polish dinner. I love the possibilty to find food from all over the world easily in London.

Shakespeare's Globe

I went to the exhibition and joined a tour at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. We were given a lot of information about the Elizabethan era and the theatre. For example, after two fires they built the third (current) Globe and are now building another theatre with a roof (to get even more visitors during the winter months). It was interesting to hear about the people that lived in Shakespeare's time – they were usually quite smelly … But there were big differences between poor and rich people.

Unit 6 9/11: Poetry II,2

For the second crit of the censorship project we decided on the matchbox idea. We crafted our own matchbox that opens to one side rather than at both ends, which gives a clearer impression of a book. We also changed the content of the box from rolls into small sheets of paper.

Film premiere

My exchange is coming to an end and before I leave I am trying to soak up as many experiences as I can. Today I went to a film premiere (overview here) for A Good Day to Die Hard and saw Bruce Willis. As we stood in the middle of screaming people it was exciting to observe all the rich and famous around us.
